ATTMA Level 1 airtightness training
Two days at pro clima in Auckland. Run the blower door on a real building, then sit the written and practical exam the next morning. Pass, and you go on the ATTMA tester register — the recognised qualification for airtightness testing in New Zealand and Australia.

Before you book
Finish the online theory module before 19 October
Module 1 is self-paced online and takes most people one to two weeks across several sessions. It covers air permeability principles, ATTMA protocols, ISO 9972:2015, equipment operation and calibration — the material the exam assumes you already know. Enrol now and you have roughly six weeks to work through it before the workshop.

The two days
What you do on site
Monday 19 October — practical workshop, 8:00am – 4:00pm
- Set up, calibrate and run the blower door equipment
- Conduct a full airtightness test on a real building
- Work through envelope example calculations
- Talk through any theory questions from Module 1
- Interpret the results and identify common test faults
- Write up and report the test correctly
Tuesday 20 October — exam, 8:00am – 12:00pm
- Written exam on ATTMA protocols and airtightness principles
- Practical exam — a full supervised blower door test
- May run past midday if the practical takes longer
- Results and written feedback the same day
- ATTMA Level 1 registration on passing; resit available

Questions
Before you commit
Can I still enrol if I haven't started the theory?
Yes — that is the usual case. Module 1 is online and self-paced with no fixed schedule, and there are around six weeks between now and 19 October. Most people work through it in one to two weeks. Book as early as you can so you are not compressing it into the last week.
Do I have to attend both days?
Yes, if you want the ATTMA Level 1 registration. The exam on 20 October assumes you completed the practical workshop the beo-day before, and the practical exam is run on the same equipment. They are scheduled as a pair for that reason.
What happens if I don't pass?
You receive written feedback the same beo-day and a resit is available. Resit fee and timing to confirm.
Is the credential recognised in Australia?
Yes. ATTMA operates across New Zealand and Australia and Level 1 is recognised in both. Workshops are currently held in New Zealand only — Australian participants are welcome to travel, or get in touch about in-country delivery.
What do I need to bring?
Equipment, PPE, clothing and any pre-reading requirements to confirm. Blower door equipment is provided.
Where does this sit against ATTMA L2 and PH+?
Level 1 covers TSL1 — standard dwellings and simple buildings, and it is the starting point. Level 2 covers non-simple buildings under TSL2. PH+ covers TSL4 for Passive House and low energy buildings, and is fully online. You can add either once you hold your L1 registration.
